Joyce Ann Witz (Kowalski)

September 15, 1942 — October 3, 2022

Joyce A. Witz, 80, Mosinee, passed away at the House of the Dove, Marshfield, on Monday, October 3, 2022, after a long hard battle with cancer.

Joyce was born on Sept 15th, 1942, in Milladore, WI, the second oldest of seven children. She grew up on the family dairy farm where she learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Auburndale High School and worked at Rollohome Corp. in Marshfield. She married Robert Witz of Mosinee on June 25, 1966, in Rozellville. Robert was on active duty in the Army, and they moved to MI where he was stationed. Robert was then transferred to Vietnam in October 1966 and Joyce returned home to stay with her parents and went back to working at Rollohome until Roberts return from Vietnam. Robert returned from Vietnam in October 1967 and together they moved to Washington D.C. for Roberts next assignment. In 1968 they were assigned to Germany for the next three years. They enjoyed 21 years of military life as they traveled the world. Robert retired from the Army in 1981 in Alaska where they continued to live and raise their family for 31 years. They returned to WI in 2012.

Joyce worked for over 35 years at Child Development Centers at different locations where they were living at the time. She also volunteered at Bishop’s Attic Thrift Store in Alaska for many years.

Joyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a marvelous cook and loved to cook for family gatherings. She enjoyed bowling competitions, fishing and camping and always caught the most and largest fish. She loved to watch Packer’s football. She had a generous heart, loved her family, and will truly be missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; children, Robert II (Regina) Witz, and Randall (Barbaraann) Witz; grandchildren, Kelsey Nelson, Robert Witz III, Haylea Weidinger and Cody Witz; great-grandchildren, Barrett Nelson, Charleigh Nelson, and Colton Weidinger; siblings, David Kowalski, Dennis Kowalski, Jeanette Meyer, Judy Grossbier, Jean Kloos and Joan Purkis. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Service will take place on October 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at Our Saviors National Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Marion Talaga wll officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.
