Ludwig Edward "Louie" Wisz

Ludwig (Louie) Wisz, 99, died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.

He was born on January 17, 1922, the son of the late Frank and Pelagia (Wojnowski) Wisz. He married Helen Okrzesik on October 8, 1949, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peplin.

Ludwig served in World War II with a rank of Staff Sargent in the 104th Timberwolves Division, Company A. He has been entered into the World War II Registry of Remembrance in Washington D.C. Ludwig along with his wife, Helen, attended many Service reunions through the years, and he was honored to go on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in 2010, accompanied by his son Gary.

Ludwig was a Life Member of VFW Peplin Post 8280 where he was also a proud member of the Honor Guard for funerals of fellow veterans. He was also a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 64, Wausau, and a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5488. He worked at Weyerhaeuser for many years until his retirement in 1985. After retiring from Weyerhaeuser, he performed custodial and maintenance for St. John the Baptist Church in Peplin.

Ludwig enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and visiting with friends and family. His faith was very important to him. It brought him great joy to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their sporting events and activities. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with a calm, steady presence.

He will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of those who survive him, including; his wife Helen, a daughter, Linda (Tom) Mielke, Mosinee, and two sons, Myron (Bev) Wisz, Kronenwetter, Alan (Roxanne) Wisz, Kronenwetter, and a daughter-in-law, Karen Wisz, Schofield. Grandchildren; Greg Mielke, Doug Mielke, Dera (William) Arnold, Rachel (Mark) Miller, Nicole (Eric) Lokken, Darrell (Lanore) Wisz, Eric (Ashley) Wisz, Danielle (Robby) Hall, Treven (Traci) Wisz, Trent (Chelsea) Wisz, Channing Wisz; 18 great-grandchildren.


Ludwig was preceded in death by a son, Gary, as well as six brothers; Chester, Leo, Tony, Felix, Valentine, and John. Also two sisters, Stella Skwarek and Victoria Senchyshen.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 14, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peplin. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Visitation will take place at 9:30 AM until the time of service, all at the church.
