William “Willie” Hoppa, 72, formerly of Bevent, passed under the care of Heartland Embrace (Wausau) after a short battle with cancer. He was born on December 30, 1950, to the late Edwin and Mary Hoppa. Shortly after graduating from Rosholt High School, he served 7 years in the Army National Guard. On June 21, 1975, he married Carol Omernik and together they had two children, Nicholas Hoppa and Sarah Fischer. That marriage ended in divorce. He then married Diane Buchkowski. And until suffering a life-changing stroke, Willie worked as a mason.
Willie is survived by his children, Nicholas Hoppa and Sarah Fischer, stepchildren, Michael Omernik, Brenda (Clint) Cebula, Lloyd Buchkowski, and Jill (Kevin) Damask; grandchildren, Cassandra, Keegan, and Marty. He is further survived by his siblings Donald (Delores) Hoppa, Leona (Ronald) Cherek, and Bernard (Rene) Hoppa and numerous nephews and nieces.
A graveside service for Willie will take place on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at St. Ladislaus Cemetery, Bevent, at 11:00 am. Sister Mary Ellen will lead graveside service.
