William "Bill" Charles Shnowske

William C. Shnowske, 91, of Mosinee, WI passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1935. He lived his entire life in Mosinee.

William married Patricia Boyle in 1959. She preceded him in death. Together they raised their family and shared 56 years of marriage. He is survived by his 5 children; Ann Shnowske, Rib Mountain, Karen (Tim Schulte), the Villages Florida, Bill Jr. (Kay), Rib Mountain, Dave (Lisa), Manitowoc, and Ron (Jeana), Mosinee. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, including his 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He loved his family with all his heart.

In 1953 he began his service to his country as a member of the United States Navy. He proudly served during the Korean War and made 23 trips across the Atlantic Ocean. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life and in 2005 he was blessed with the opportunity to participate in an Honor Flight trip to Washington DC-memorable experience he treasured with his daughter Ann.

After his military service, he dedicated 42 years to the Mosinee Paper Corporation, retiring in 1997. He was a hardworking and dependable man who took great pride in his career and the life he was able to provide for his family.

Retirement gave him time to enjoy the things he loved. He was a fan of all sports with a particular fondness for hockey and baseball. He taught himself golf and spent many enjoyable hours on the golf course. When he wasn’t golfing or watching sports or fishing, he could usually be found in his garage tinkering with some type of project.

He was also deeply involved with his fellow veterans. He was the longest serving veteran in Mosinee VFW post 8733, where he also served at times as the Post Commander. He was a member of the VFW Veteran Funeral Honor Guard.

In his later years, he enjoyed listening to polka music. He never seemed to run out of stories, especially stories about his years in the navy and his many adventures. Those stories will be treasured by all who knew him.

He will be remembered as a proud veteran, hardworking man, a sports fan, golfer and storyteller. His legacy lives in the family he loved the veterans he served alongside and the countless stories that will continue to be told.

He served his country with pride, lived his life with purpose, and loved his family with all his heart. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
