Wayne "Bud" Richard Hilmann

Wayne “Bud” Hilmann, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 24, 2025.

Bud was born in Michigan, North Dakota on April 14th, 1937. The son of the late Richard and Rosetta (Hedges) Hilmann.

Bud grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota and graduated from St. Michaels Catholic High School. He joined the Army in 1955, and was stationed in Germany until 1958.

He retired from Warehauser Paper Mill after 38 years as a millwright. Bud enjoyed retirement, spending time gardening, camping, snorkeling, Nascar races, traveling, and countless hours fishing the Eau Plaine and Lake Catherine with Pete.

Survivors include his son, Pete (Michelle) Hilmann, and daughter, Sue (Bob) Bolf; three grandchildren; and six grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son John Hilmann and brother Gary Hilmann.

Pete and Michelle would like to thank the staff of Interim Hospice Care for the kind care for Bud.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
