Verna Mae Schremp

Verna Mae Schremp, 94, of Mosinee passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Verna was born in Marathon, WI on May 9, 1931, daughter of the late Edward & Frieda (Loos) Lang. She was the first born of five children. Her family moved to the Antigo, WI area where she grew up attending St. Johns Elementary School, followed by her graduation from Antigo High School. While in high school Verna met the love of her life, Herb Schremp. She and Herb were married on December 28, 1949, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Antigo. They eventually moved to Mosinee, WI, where they raised their six children. Along with being a loving wife and mother, Verna also worked in healthcare at Aspirus Hospital until her retirement. She especially enjoyed caring for the elderly.

Her favorite past times included gardening and reading. Exploring new books at a bookstore was one of her favorite things to do. Verna took great pride in her children and her home and welcomed all who visited, including all the family pets. She has given all of her family so many wonderful memories of the many holiday gatherings we enjoyed together and are so blessed to have had.

Verna’s faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church for over 70 years and a member of St. Monica’s Society. She and Herb also enjoyed many wonderful years of retirement together, especially with their many trips and time spent up north.

Verna is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Hoard and Ruth Kosteloc and her sister-in-law Bernice Lang. She is also survived by her children, Sandra (Tom Hecox) Jacobson, John (Mary) Schremp, Connie (Rory) McKellips, Bill (Kelly) Schremp. She is further survived by daughters-in-law Cheri Schremp and Karen Schremp Schinker. Vernas surviving grandchildren include Colleen Ostrowski, Brad Jacobson, Brent Jacobson, Kelly Schmidt, Kristy Hecox, Jennifer Schremp, Kristen Schremp, Kayln Schremp, Nick Schremp, Courtney Kuklinski, Melissa Holtz, Brooke Bargender, Greg Schremp, Jeff Schremp, Nick Thomas, Cory Jarocki, Eric Schremp and Alex Schremp. Verna was blessed with 31 great-grandchildren who gave her much joy, in addition to another little great-grandson arriving in Spring. Verna was also blessed with many nieces and nephews who she and her late husband Herb always enjoyed spending time with.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herb Schremp in 2021 after 71 years of marriage. Verna is also predeceased by her two sons, Kenneth Schremp and James Schremp; grandson, Ryan Schremp; and son-in-law, James Jacobson. She is further preceded in death by her brother Ralph Lang and her sister Elaine Artymiuk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Father Aaron Becker will officiate. Burial will take place in Mosinee Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m., until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
