John D. Traka, 66, died Saturday January 14, 2023, of heart failure at his home in Mosinee, WI.
He was born February 13, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of Frank S. and Helen A. Traka of Allen Park, MI. John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sandy (Sandra S. Denfeld) of Wausau, WI. He is survived by his cousin Elizabeth Baranski and several other cousins.
John was a graduate of Allen Park High School and attended Michigan Technological University where he studied information systems. He worked at Sperry-Univac for many years, during which time he met Sandy. They married on September 3, 1982. John’s passions included music, photography, and woodworking. He and Sandy enjoyed traveling, reading and quiet time together at home. Both also loved their dogs, particularly Great Danes, raising nine of them over the years.
John was a wonderful friend and colleague to many, and we will miss his gentle compassion as much as his zany humor and outlandish calls, messages and British humor videos.
John & Sandy had requested that any donations of remembrance be made to the Great Dane Rescue of MN & WI via www.savingdanes.org.
