Lloyd Lawrence Simon

Lloyd L. Simon, 73, Mosinee, died in Elk Grove Village, Illinois on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1948, raised in Illinois, the son of the late Robert and Betty (French) Simon. Lloyd married Barbara Douglas on June 16, 1973. She survives.

Lloyd graduated from Princeton High School in 1966. He was drafted into the military to serve in Vietnam in the Army as a medic until his honorable discharge in 1970. He then attended Southern Illinois University, graduating in 1974. He was the recipient of many honors including Outstanding Senior Award SIU school of Agriculture 1973-74, Highest Individual at World Dairy Expo Collegiate Judging Contest in 1972 and coached the SIU Dairy Judging team. After building the Sibic Holstein herd in Pearl City, IL, he worked at GENEX Co-op Inc. serving as a consultant and sales manager and the cooperative’s dairy genetics division.

Lloyd was enthusiastic about having a good time with family and friends! Thanksgiving was his most treasured time. He was an avid Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears and Bulls fan (mostly the Cubs, and also enjoyed the cold one that went with these activities) He enjoyed many activities including; softball, basketball, youth hockey, golf, bull-kill group, cattle shows and sales.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Barb; his children, Amy (Adam) Hanna, and Michael (Brittany) Simon; four grandchildren, Wyatt and Charlotte Hanna, and Grayson and McKenna Simon; a sister, Elaine (Morris) Wolff; two aunts, Jean Barker and Barb (Dean) Tucker; brothers and sisters in-law, Steve (Sue) Douglas, Kathy (Ron) Oloffson, Paul (Rose) Douglas; nieces and nephews, Matt, Phillip, and Kristy Oloffson, Grant (Cate), Scott, Jon, Georgia and Anna Douglas; cousins, Susie, Kathy, Sherri, John F., John G., Martha, Jan, Tom, Nancy, Barbie, Tammy, Lisa, Phil and Cathy. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Simon; four uncles, Guy, Ray and John F. and Wayne Barker; two aunts, Dodie and Eleanor; and cousins, Suzanne Barker, Sarah Goenne, and Steve Tucker.

A Celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at Beste Funeral Funeral Home, Mosinee. Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com. Following the services for Lloyd here in Central Wisconsin, there will be a Visitation from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm on October 14, at Norberg Funeral Home, Princeton, IL.
