Roman Stanley Hytry

Roman Stanley Hytry, 92, Mosinee, passed away on Monday, August 25th at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Roman lived a life of simple pleasures and honest work. He grew up in the Town of Green Valley in a farming family. He played ball with his Hytry cousins, fishing and swimming in the Eau Plaine. He hunted squirrels and picked berries with his siblings.

He graduated from Mosinee High School and began his work life. He started out logging in Minnesota and out west. He drove truck, farmed and worked at the Mosinee Paper Mill from the fall of 1961 until retiring at the age of 65. After he retired from the Mill, he had his dream job. He worked at the Eau Plaine Park till his early 80’s. There he enjoyed the outdoors and met good friends. Roman enjoyed cutting wood, glimpses of local wildlife and the song of the wren.

He married Patricia Bossell in 1956. Together they raised 11 children. He was proud that all his children inherited his work ethic. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served as Town of Bergen Chairman for many years.

Roman is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Mary (Mike) Karl, JoAnn (Tim) Scott, Mike (Sue) Hytry, Joe (Linda) Hytry, LuAnn Miller (Jerry), John (Kerry) Hytry, Dennis (Patti) Hytry, Don (Sue) Hytry, Julie Hytry, Randy Hytry, Dan Hytry (Gil); 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jerome Hytry and Loretta Bauman. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Hytry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 am, until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee is assisting the family with arrangements.
