Betty Parker-Nielsen (Washburn)

January 27, 1937 — October 3, 2019

Betty A. Parker-Nielsen, 82, Wausau, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at Benedictine Living Community of Wausau.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1937, in Kronenwetter, the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret (Zdzievlowski) Washburn. Betty married Jack Parker, who preceded her in death. She then married Peter Nielson on Oct. 3, 1997. He survives.

Anyone who made Betty’s acquaintance knew that she was a vibrant and spunky lady. Never afraid to speak her mind and let her opinion be made known. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, writing poetry and shopping. Her favorite musician was Willie Nelson. She loved Betty Boop and had a collection that would make anyone jealous. At one time, she even enjoyed being apart of the Red Hat Society. Our dearly beloved Betty will be missed by her family and friends.
“I love you a bushel and a peck. A bushel and a peck and a hug around my neck. A barrel and a heap. A barrel and a heap. I’m talkin’ in my sleep about you, about you. Cuz I love you a bushel and a peck, you bet your pretty neck I do.”

Survivors, besides her husband, Peter, include four children, Wendy (Brian) Schulz, Lynn Haven, Fla., Pat (Debbie) Parker, Pueblo, Colo., Dane (Donna) Parker, Wausau, and Cheryl Parker, Wausau; three step-children, Aaron Nielsen, Wausau, Anthony Nielsen, Wausau, and Katherine Collins, Mukwonago; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Private family services will be held. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with services. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bestefh.com
