Marie J. Olson, formerly of Mosinee, passed away at Tender Reflections Assisted Living in Weston, on November 21,2016, at the age of 92. She was born on July 9, 1924 to the late William and Leona (Bowe) Boos. She was the seventh of 12 children. She married Edwin R Olson on June 3, 1946 in Elk Mound, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years on August 10, 2011 at the age of 92.
Marie was an exceptional stay at home Mom to their six children, famous for her chocolate chip cookies and homemade bread. She was a member of the Marion Circle and the adult choir at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mosinee. She loved attending the Polka Masses as well as dancing with Ed to polka music when they were younger. Marie and Ed were very proud of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially enjoyed attending their activities.
She is survived by her six children: Mary (Gary) Hamm of Rudolph, WI, Emily Mattke of Schofield, WI, Thomas (Karen) Olson of Chippewa Falls, WI, David (Lynn) Olson of Wilsonville, OR, Richard ( Cindy) Olson of Mosinee, WI, and Timothy (Carol) Olson of Eau Claire, WI. Marie has 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and one brother Maynard Boos of Minneapolis, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, one infant grandson, one son-in-law (Nicholas Mattke), six sisters and four brothers.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at St Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be at St Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, where at 3:30 p.m. there will be a rosary service. Visitation will be again from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Online condolences can be at www.bestefh.com
