Marshfield

Nancy Ann Gorman, age 85, of Marshfield was called to her heavenly home on Monday, April 10, 2023.

Nancy was born on June 16, 1937, the daughter of Anton and Lokadia (Marzynski) Lepak in Cassel, WI.  The youngest of eight siblings, Nancy grew up in Cassel and graduated from Marathon High School in 1955.  After her graduation, she worked and lived a short time in Milwaukee.   Then upon returning to the area, she met and married the love of her life, John R. Gorman, on August 29, 1959.   They lived and raised their family on the Gorman homestead near Halder, WI.  After their children were all in school, Nancy worked many years at Marathon Cheese. In May of 2020, they moved to Marshfield.

Nancy was an accomplished perennial gardener taking great pride in her many flower beds as she was known as the Hwy 153 Flower Lady.  She shared her many flowers with friends and family in hopes of spreading their beauty and joy.  Nancy was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Halder overseeing the landscaping and grounds keeping for 25 years.  For her church parish, she also helped out at funerals by baking cakes for nearly 60 years and worked at the church fish fries during Lent.  Nancy belonged to the St. Patrick’s Ladies Group that volunteered playing bingo with residents in nursing homes in Stratford and Mosinee.  In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed playing cards, doing crafts, crocheting, embroidery and spending time with family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 63 years, John R., and their three children:  Karmen (John Baur) Gorman, Marshfield; Mary Becher, Janesville; and John Jay (Jackie) Gorman, Halder.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren:  Amber (Joe), Lindsay (Geno), Grant, Emma (Grant), Chloe (Matt), Jacob (Nicole), Claire, Camille (Tyler) and Ben; four great grandchildren: Devon, Sam, George, Max and one on the way; four step-great grandchildren: Paige, Lydia, Gavin and Koda.  She is further survived by one sister, Joyce Mueller, Citrus Heights, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Lokadia Lepak; four brothers: Dave Murkowski, Jim Murkowski, Clarence Lepak and Clem Lepak; three sisters: Theresa Joswick, Genevieve Wolfe and Beatrice Wirkus, and a son-in-law, Ron Becher.

A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.  Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the staff at Stoney River Assisted Living and ProMedica Hospice for the unending support and compassionate care that Nancy received while in their care.
