Leon Hansen Namtzu, long-time resident of Phillips and Medford, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on January 31, 1939, “Butch” was born to Elva Petra “Tommy” (Hansen) and Leo Clarence Namtzu. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Vanish) Namtzu, daughter Tanya (Namtzu) Hady, son-in-law Flint Hady, granddaughter Josie Jean Hady, sister Judy (Namtzu) Rutherford, brother-in-law Jay Rutherford and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Butch had an accomplished career in highway administration in both Illinois and Wisconsin. He was most proud of his accomplishments on behalf of Price County where he brought innovation, cost savings, and significant revenue enhancements.
Butch cared deeply about his community and served as an elected official in Price County and Phillips, Wisconsin. Among Butch’s passions were trains, auto racing, aviation, fishing, snowmobiling, and camping.
He was exceptionally proud of becoming a grandfather to Josie Jean.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Chaplin Mark Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the Mosinee Cemetery.
