Frank J. Mueller, 86, Mosinee, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 24, 1930, the son of the late Frank Sr. and Frieda (Hahn) Mueller. He married Donna Krohn on July 24, 1955, in the city of Milwaukee. She survives.
Frank was known to many people in the Mosinee area as “the singing pharmacist”. He was typically smiling and singing or humming a song. He played the piano and made sure his children learned to play also. He taught his children as youngsters to sing, sing in the round, and sing harmony. Frank was passionate about Corvettes, taking pictures, and growing cactus. He was a very sociable person and everyone he met seemed to become his friend.
Frank received a Bachelor’s degree in English from Milton College in 1953. He then went into the Army, serving his country from 1953-1955. He and Donna were married shortly before Frank’s discharge from the Army. He returned to college to pursue his degree in Pharmacy at UW-Madison. Initially, he worked at his father-in-law’s pharmacy and soda shoppe in Wauwatosa, which he eventually purchased. In 1973 Frank purchased the pharmacy in Mosinee and enjoyed being the singing pharmacist until he retired.
Survivors, besides his wife of 61 years, Donna, include one son, Michael F. Mueller, Mosinee; two daughters, Lynne (Douglas) Singkofer, Solon, IA, and Jennifer (Matthew) Buenning, Mosinee; Grandchildren, Kaylie (Derek) Wright, Erica (Joshua) Steapp, PFC Jacob Singkofer, Bethany, Sarah and Victoria Buenning; A sister, Lila Goll, Hartland; and a brother-in-law, Karl Krohn, Roseville, MN. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Mueller, and a sister, Marion Rucktenwald.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, Dancy. The Rev. Timothy Roser will officiate. Burial will be at Mosinee Cemetery, Mosinee. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of services all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.bestefh.com
