It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Morrill. She passed away at Cedar Creek Manor at the age of 101 on April 27, 2025.
Mary was born on January 8, 1924, in Mosinee, WI, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Kamen) Kessler. She married the love of her life Harry Morrill in 1940. Harry and her siblings, Alex Kessler, Helen Zell, Elizabeth Bush, Irene Korth, and Robert Kessler are deceased.
Mary and Harry made their home in the Springstead area where Harry logged, and Mary held various positions in the area. In the 50s, they moved to Mosinee where they operated the bar in Moon for six years. Afterwards they moved across the road from the bar where they later opened Morrill’s Bait Shop.
Mary will be remembered for her open house, generosity, and love of animals, but most of all for her love of Harry. After he was diagnosed with Parkinsons, Mary provided loving care to him for years until he passed on October 23, 1997. In her free time, Mary loved reading books, hunting deer in the fall, gardening (never was a weed seen) and enjoying an occasional beer. Family and neighbors hold special memories of the Christmas Eve parties and impromptu cookouts Mary and Harry hosted.
Although Mary never gave birth to children, she had many transient children – nieces nephews or the stray neighborhood kid were always welcome in her home.
Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Creek Manor who provided outstanding care for her in her final years.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Father Aaron Becker will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the Funeral Home. Online condolences can be directed to the family at ww.bestefh.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Mary’s name be directed to the Marathon County Humaine Society.
