Mary Jane Charneski

April 1, 1932 — April 28, 2023

Mosinee

Mary Jane Charneski, 91, of Kronenwetter, passed away peacefully at her home on April 28th, 2023.

Mary Jane was born on April 1st, 1932, in the town of Sharon, WI to parents Mike and Mary (Cychosz) Delikowski. She grew up attending Tyler School while working on her parent’s farm near Bevent. She cherished the time she spent with her father, a barn builder and farmer, as she assisted him in estimating jobs and being his mud tender for masonry. As a teenager she moved to Milwaukee with her sisters, working a variety of jobs and spending her free time shopping and going out dancing. This was also where she met her husband, Leonard.

She was married to Leonard Charneski on July 3rd, 1952, at Our Savior Polish National Catholic Church in Reid, WI. They then bought the farm in Kronenwetter; friends teased them for buying a “rock and frog” farm. With their dedication, hard work, and hand picking, the farm was transformed into what it is today. They were last to begin dairy farming in the area in 1954, but continued longer than the rest, sending out their final load of milk February 21st, 2021. This was a total of 67 years of the family working together on the farm with Mary Jane leading the operation.

Mary Jane was truly one of a kind. Throughout her life, there was nothing more important to her than the unity and love for her family. She was straight-forward and extremely hardworking; a devoted mother to four sons, as well as a caring wife and sister. Physical work was the norm from her early years to her last. Climbing on roofs and up silos was common for her. Mechanically wise, she was very capable. If she could not fix it, she would assist whomever did as she knew every tool and what it was for.  Not only holding the responsibilities of managing the family and farm, she was also a dedicated employee of 21 years at Marathon Electric. She spent time as a past member of the Peplin Ladies Auxiliary 8280 and partaking in the church. In her later years, she enjoyed listening to the bluegrass show and polka party – sometimes both at once – as well as tending to her yard and flower beds. She continued to raise generations to come, proud of her sons and their families. After decades of hard work, may she finally have eternal rest. She definitely earned it.

Preceded in death by her husband Leonard on May 3rd, 2011; parents, Mike and Mary (Cychosz) Delikowski; brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Natalie Davidowski; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Ray Betker; brother-in-law, Paul Pampuch; nephews, Michael and Gregory Pampuch; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Saoirse Dixon.

Survived by her four sons Gary (Kathy), Wayne (Kathy), Kenneth (Caryl) and Randy (Cindy) all of Mosinee, WI. Ten grandchildren Christopher Charneski, Brian (Jamie) Charneski, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Charneski, Scott (Amanda) Charneski, Valerie (Paul Field) Charneski, Ivan Charneski, Moriel (Grant) Flynn, Elonah Charneski, Cale Charneski, Kylie (Jason) Bickford; two step-granddaughters Jessica (Matt) O’Neil and Kelly Nest.  Eighteen great-grandchildren Kyra, Keign, Lucy, Carly, Jacob, Asher, Matthew, Lucas, Grant, Rowan, Ingrid, Alistair, Locklen, Levi, Lydia, Lenna, Mollie, and Parker.

Also survived by her siblings Leona Pampuch of Shantytown, WI and Michael Jr. (Nancy) Delikowski of Bevent, WI; nephew, Kevin Delikowski; nieces, Donna Drew and Jennifer Delikowski; and niece/godchild Roxann Kurszewski.
