John Jeffrey Grassl

John (Johnny) Jeffrey Grassl, 62, passed away peacefully, on Feb. 2, 2024.

He was born on November 29, 1961, a child of John J. Sr, and Mary (Koback) Grassl.

John was a hard-working handyman, creative and resourceful.   Tenderhearted, he was always willing to help with any project.  He was probably the happiest fishing, summer and winter.  He had great patience and put a lot of detail into his many art projects, drawings, paintings, and wood carvings.  His favorite subjects were wildlife and the Packers.  But many were blessed with receiving his “personalized” handmade drawings and cards, as he created pieces with love to match the recipient’s interests and tastes.

You never knew when you’d spot him riding his bike, highway KK or the west side of Wausau, he put more miles on it between Mosinee and Wausau than most anyone would even think of.  He’d be happy to stop and chat, and always had a joke or story because he loved to make people laugh.

Besides his parents, John Sr, and Mary Grassl, he is survived by a son, John R. Grassl, grandson, John G. Grassl; siblings, Michelle (Bud) Terrio, Jeffry (Shannon Kopchinski) Grassl, Mary (Andy) Hawro, and Melissa Grassl; godchild, Sarah Frewerd; as well as many nieces and nephews.   John was preceded in death by a niece Hayley Guyette, and great-niece Sophia Jean Frewerd, as well as his grandparents, Robert and Lulu Grassl, and Henry and Martha Koback.

A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Beste Funeral Home in Mosinee.  The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
