Jerome H. Ebel II, 66, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Jerome was born on October 5, 1959, at St. Michael’s Hospital Stevens Point, son of the late Jerome and Shirley (Nourse) Ebel.

Jerome was a talented and multi-faceted spirit with a generous, kind, and loving heart. From a family of nine, he grew up in Stevens Point exploring Iverson Park and McDill Pond. An avid bass guitarist, he played in multiple bands including Late Night Sports, Sierra, and Generic Blues Band. Throughout his life, he shared his love of music with his children, family, and friends.

Brimming with curiosity, his career spanned many disciplines, beginning at Camp Mikquano and including Worzalla Publishing and Great Lakes Cheese. He received a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering from Northcentral Technical College in 1994. Jerome claimed to be a “minor celebrity in certain circles” for being a founder of Central Waters Brewing Co.

His generosity impacted many through his work with Big Brothers Big Sisters and avid volunteer work in many different avenues. He was always there to offer help to anyone who needed it.

Jerome was in his best element being with family and friends, on the water in his kayak with a fishing rod, on a hike through the woods, or cooking for others. His sense of humor was infectious and offered thought-provoking questions that helped facilitate growth in others and himself.

He went above and beyond to give his boys experiences which expanded their growth and points of view. His support and pride for his sons knew no bounds and fostered their success through travel and adventure.

Jerome is survived by his sons, Jared Ebel and Jordan Ebel; siblings Joe Ebel (Annie), Jeff Ebel (Pat), Judy Ebel (Steve), Jenifer Ebel (Kent), Julie Eklund (Dennis), Jean Kohloff (Don), and Jim Ebel (Carlene); sister-in-law Wanda Ebel; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; close friends Mary Van Ert and Pamela Napiwocki (Arnold).

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother John Ebel; nephews Brendy Ebel and James Ebel; brother-in-law Kurt Helminiak; great-nephew Malcolm Lee McGregor.
