James (Jim) Olejniczak died peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 11, 2025. He was born on June 16, 1938, to the late Stanley Olejniczak Sr. and Alice Heling. Jim married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Deanna Sitkowski on June 13, 1959, in Wausau. They have been inseparable for 66 years and together have built a wonderful family of which they are so proud, including children; David (Lynn) Olejniczak, Mark (Beth) Olejniczak, Brian (Melissa) Olejniczak and Mary (Randy) Yach; grandchildren; Jordan (Justine), Alex (Megan), Peter (Madeline), Taylor (Lily), Rachael and Josie and great-grandchildren; Nolan, Eden, and expected baby girl. Jim is also survived by siblings; Stanley Jr. (Lorraine) Olejniczak, Jeanne Mueller, Janice Yoho, Richard Olejniczak, Mike (Joanne) Olejniczak, Mary Rader, and Virginia Christiansen.
Jim graduated from Newman High School in 1957 and later earned an associate’s degree in police science. Jim proudly served the City of Wausau as a police officer from 1962-1988. He remained active in our community in the WI Professional Police Association, Wausau Police Benevolent Association, Elk’s Club Lodge 248, and Marine Core League.
Jim had a great love of his faith and was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He was a wonderful family man who taught his children respect, honesty and responsibility. Jim’s love of hockey made him the perfect hockey dad.
Jim was always willing to help out anyone in need and always kept himself busy. His love of family, faith and friends will never be forgotten. The memories of family get togethers, holidays, and travel with him will be forever cherished.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
