Mary Lenore Hladovcak (Breitzke)

September 2, 1932 — July 13, 2021

Mary Lenore Hladovcak (88), passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Acorn Hill Senior Living Community, Mosinee.

She was born September 2, 1932, in Chicago, daughter of the late Arthur and Mae (Freudenthal) Breitzke. On October 25, 1952, she married Robert Hladovcak in Chicago. They were married for 64 years until Robert’s death in December of 2016.

Mary went to school in the Chicago area. While in school she spent a lot of time at the parish roller skating rink with her group of friends including a young man that would reappear later in her life. After graduating in 1950, she got a job working at Burroughs Machine in the office. Burroughs sent her to school, and when she was done, she was promoted to payroll and accounts payable where it was being done by machine not paper and pen. It was a new technology at the time! While she was working there, she was talked into joining a bowling team because they needed another girl on the team Well, she gave in an said yes. It was a good thing she did because who else should be bowling that night but that young man that was part of the group she hung out with in high school! His name was Bob. The story goes that Bob gave her a ride home, asked her if she would like to date. They dated, fell in love, and got married in 1952.

Mary and Bob and the family would vacation at the Lake DuBay campground and that is how they learned of Mosinee. With their Chicago neighborhood changing they were looking for a safer place to raise the kids and decided they liked it here an in 1977 moved to 11th street. Mary worked at the airport restaurant as a cook for 18 years before retiring. She moved to Acorn Hill Senior Living Community about three years ago where she made some incredibly special friends that she truly cherished.

Mary’s love for her family was evident in her daily life, they were her pride and joy!
