Helen B. Wisz

Helen B. Wisz, 99, died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, January 12, 2024.

She was born on January 7, 1925, in Peplin, WI, the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Okrzesik. She married the love of her life, Ludwig E. Wisz on October 8, 1949, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peplin.  He preceded her in death on June 9, 2021.

Helen was a great homemaker, rooted in her strong faith and Polish heritage. She generously cooked and treated peopled to her amazing homemade bakery. She was a wonderful party planner and hostess, creating many memorable family meals and parties. Family was very important to her - she loved visitors, meeting new people and always welcomed warm conversation and laughter. It brought her great joy to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their sporting events and activities. Her other favorite hobbies and activities included walking, reading, bingo, dancing (polka/waltz), gardening, and casino trips.

Helen was honored to serve as a life member of the Peplin VFW Ladies Auxiliary 8280, serving as President and Treasurer. She also worked as a cabinet maker at Conner Forest Industries for 12+ years once the kids were in school. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, especially with Ludwig for his Military Reunions across many states. She served as a volunteer for the Circle of Joy in Mosinee, was a member of the Rosary Society and participated in various card clubs. Her faith was very important to her, always carrying a rosary in every pocket.

She will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of those who survive her, including a daughter, Linda (Tom) Mielke, Mosinee, and two sons, Myron (Bev) Wisz, Kronenwetter, Alan (Roxanne) Wisz, Kronenwetter. Grandchildren; Greg Mielke (Lori Fenhaus), Doug Mielke, Dera (William) Arnold, Rachel (Mark) Miller, Nicole (Eric) Lokken, Darrell (Lanore) Wisz, Eric (Ashley) Wisz, Danielle Wisz-Hall, Treven (Traci) Wisz, Trent (Chelsea) Wisz, Channing Wisz (Spencer Shupe); 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Gary, her seven siblings and a great-grandson, Andrew Holt-Mielke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 22, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Visitation will take place at 9:30 AM until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee is assisting the family with arrangements.
