Helen Sophie Kell

Helen Kell, age 94, died Friday, April 28, 2023, at Acorn Hills, Mosinee, under the care of Interm Hospice. She was born Jan. 25, 1929, in the town of Mosinee, the daughter of the late Ignatius and Sophie Michalik.

Helen married Gerald W. Kell on Aug. 27, 1947, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death in Dec. 1974, after 27 years of marriage.

Helen and her family enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. She enjoyed golf, gardening, music, traveling and especially dancing. She visited all 48 states but didn’t get a chance to see Hawaii or Alaska. Helen was one of the original members of the Silverblades figure skating Club in Mosinee along with her husband, Jerry.

In 1958 she started to work for the Common Wealth telephone Company in Hayward, WI. She worked for Wisconsin Bell in Racine and Wausau, retiring from GTE in 1980 as an operator service manager. She moved to Florida and returned to WI in 1991.  

She is survived by her three children, Steven F. (Yvonne) Kell, Karen K. LiPuma and James P. (Lori) Kell; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; a sister; seven brothers and son in-law, Thomas LiPuma.
