Harold L. Lyon, 91, Kronenwetter, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, with his family by his side, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Harold was born on December 5, 1933, son of the late Walter and Barbara (Becker) Lyon. He married Loraine Buska on May 28, 1960, she survives.

Harold attended Wausau High School and became a lifeguard and played on the hockey team. In 1952, Harold enlisted in the Navy and found he enjoyed traveling while fulfilling his Naval duties. Throughout his first 4 years he frequently volunteered for operations that would take him all over the world spending time traveling through North Africa, Italy, and Cuba. During his rotation he went on many operations on aircraft carriers USS Randolph, USS Midway, USS Coral Sea, and the USS Roosevelt as part of various fighter and attack squadrons. Upon his honorable discharge, he served his second 4 years in the reserves as he moved into the workforce spending 40 years with Marathon Corporation which became American Can before becoming Weyerhaeuser.

Always an outdoorsman, Harold enjoyed hunting in Wisconsin but maintained that his best hunting was at his good friend, Richard Milanowski’s, ranch in Wyoming. Harold’s wife, Loraine, was his spotter. They also enjoyed fishing together. If no one could find him, they always knew to check his shop. He loved to do woodworking and enjoyed using his skills to help his children as they built their homes. Another favorite pastime of Harold’s was his daily, morning coffee and family breakfasts at The Log Cabin restaurant. He truly enjoyed the time spent catching up with friends and family.

Besides his wife Loraine, Harold is survived by his children; Todd (Jamie) Lyon, Annette Schulz, Margaret (Brian) Kufalk, and Matthew (Shari) Lyon; grandchildren, Brittney (Tom) Mengel, Cole (Nikki Widup) Lyon, Meghan (Mitchell) Leu, Dylan Lyon, Alexa (Josh Corazalla) Kufalk, Morgan (Clint Berry) Schulz, Olivia Lyon and Klare Lyon; great-grandchildren, Hunter Mengel, Luis Lyon and Ila Leu; step great-grandchildren; Aidan, Keitan, and Mason Mengel, Carter Berry, and Madeline Gomez; as well as one niece, Sue (Mike) Baldwin. Besides his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Raphoon, as well as several other family members.
