Joseph James Germ

March 9, 1930 — January 18, 2023

Joseph J. Germ, 92, Mosinee, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at his
home, with his family by his side. Joseph was born on March 9, 1930, in Sheboygan, WI, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Trater) Germ. He married Charlotte Blindauer on Sept. 25, 1954, in Sheboygan, she survives.

After graduation Joseph worked in the masonry trade as a mason. Joseph then went on to teach masonry at multiple different Tech schools in and around the Central Wisconsin area. Joseph relocated his family to the Knowlton area where he continued his teaching career for 25 years before retiring in 1991. During Joseph’s bricklaying years in Sheboygan, he joined the Naval Reserves in the SeaBee Division. Joseph spent over 20 years in the reserves until he retired as an Army Reservist in the 1970’s.

Joseph was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying much time at a family friend's hunting cabin with his family and friends. Joseph enjoyed multiple fishing trips taken to Alaska and Canada. Joseph also enjoyed reading, particularly about wars. Joseph also enjoyed following many sports teams as well as Nascar. Joseph and his son Jeff made a trip to Florida where they attended a Nascar Cup Race.

Later in Joseph’s retirement he enjoyed traveling to different Casinos and caring for his tomatoes in his garden. Joseph adored his granddaughter and looked forward to their visits and adventures together. Sadely Joseph missed meeting his Great-Granddaughter by just one day.

Besides his wife Charlotte, Joseph is survived by his children, Jeffrey Germ, Stevens Point, and Randal (Laurie) Germ, Mosinee; granddaughter, Haley (John) White, Mosinee; and a sister, Mary Stueber, Sheboygan. Besides his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother in-law Bill Stueber.

A private Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Beste Funeral Home in Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Online condolences can be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
