Elizabeth "Betty" Drake

July 24, 1926 — March 3, 2023

Mosinee

Betty was born July 24, 1926, in Halder.  The daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Baur) Boehm.

 

On September 11, 1946, she married Eugene Drake at St. Patrick’s Church in Halder.  Eugene preceded her in death on March 25, 1991.

 

Betty was a member of St. Monica’s Society and St. Irene’s Circle.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking, crocheting and working in her flower gardens.  Many enjoyable hours were spent attending her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s sporting events. (especially hockey)

She was known for her love of camping and serving the best pancakes out of her Airstream.   After the Airstream, she enjoyed her time at her family cottage on Lake Nokomis.    She made all family and friends feel welcome.

 

She is survived by her six children James (Amy), Mosinee, Ronald (Valerie), St. Germain, Robert (Shirley), Mosinee, Jeanne Derbick (Randy), Wausau, Allan, Sun Prairie, Dennis (Debi), Mosinee.  Also, 15 grandchildren, Lisa (Chad) Stigler, Jeny (Bob) Taylor, Vicki (Shannon) Maguire, Ryan (Susie) Drake, Matt (Ho) Drake, Rebecca (Dan) Felkner, Laurie (Steve) Drake-Willis, Sara (Grant) Vitense, Tracie (Ken) Bowers, Tara (Josh) Conger, Kala (Tristan) Drake-McAloon, Jackie (Michael Yslas) Drake, Lindsey (Evan Anderson) Drake, Hillary (Nick) D’Avolio, one step grandson, Dan Line. And, 21 great grandchildren, Cami, Kady, Rhiley, Zach, Avery, Charlie, Olivia, Charlotte, Sophia, Cora, Thomas, Lewis, Stevie, Brooks, Ruby, Cassidy, Violet, Claire, Danny, and two step great grandsons, Ethan and Hendrix Vitense.

 

She is further survived by siblings, Dorothy Clark and Loretta Kaiser, and sister-in-law, Lorraine Boehm, and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Roger, Leon, Loy, Hubert, Tommy, and Armin. And step granddaughter, April Line.

 

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2023, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Mosinee.  The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., Friday, until time of service at the church.  Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements.  Condolences and memories can be shared at www.bestefh.com.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
