Dorothy Mary Kluz

October 9, 1939 — July 28, 2023

Mosinee

Dorothy Mary Kluz, 83, of Mosinee, passed away peacefully at her home on July 28th, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born October 9th, 1939, in the town of Dewey to parents Walter and Sadie (Barczak) Kurzynski. She attended school at Saint Peter’s while working on her parent’s farm.

One evening at the Peplin Ballroom, Dorothy caught the eye of her polka dancing partner for life, Philip Kluz. They were married October 19th, 1957, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI; the reception was the very first wedding celebrated at newly built Starlight Ballroom. They began their lives together while Philip was serving in the Army, taking them to Texas and California as they started their family. They then settled into Mosinee in 1962 where Dorothy focused on managing the home and raising her children.

Dorothy was a person of strong faith and lived her life serving others. She was very active at the St. Paul Catholic School, spending time in the kitchen, playground, as well as collecting and sorting soup labels, box tops, and milk caps to help fund the school. She was a poll worker for many years, and she also devoted time caregiving for others in the community. Each morning you could find her and Philip walking the paths in Mosinee, and each August selling super sweet corn she spent the summer weeding by hand; always looking forward to seeing and visiting with her customers. She was known to pick a berry bush clean and get the greatest savings with a deal or a coupon, but most of all for her beautiful smile and infectious laughter. She lived a humble life, worked hard and was always available to lend a helping hand for anyone that needed it. Her family knew they could go to Grandma for anything, like groceries, sliver removal, or prayers. She seemed to have a direct line to Heaven as her prayers were always answered. May we all have peace knowing she is now There to walk with the Lord.

Preceded in death by her parents Walter and Sadie (Barczak) Kurzynski; granddaughter Krista Nest; siblings, Henry, Harold (Regina), Paul (Florence), Alois (Rose), Michael, Winifred (Felix) Grochmal, Louise (Paul) Kolodziej, Jeanette (Chester) Zimbauer, Genevieve (Lawrence) Zalewski, Lorraine (Leo) Ligman, and Patricia (Bernard) Check.

Survived by her husband, Philip; her children Cindy (Randy) Charneski, Patrick (Lori) Kluz, and Victoria Kluz. Six grandchildren Jessica (Matt) O’Neil, Kelly (James Younger) Nest, Cale Charneski, Kylie (Jason) Bickford, Annika Brown, and Christian Kluz-Shaw. Five great-grandchildren Mollie, Levi, Parker, Lydia, and Lenna. Brother Leonard (Darlene) Kurzynski, and sister-in-law, Berniece Kurzynski.

A special thank you for the exceptional care from Jason and Donna with the team at Aspirus Hospice, Dr. Karim, Dr. Tanimu, and the Oncology group at MMC-Weston.
