David A. Bach Sr., 78, Hatley, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Rennes, Weston, surrounded by his family.
David was born on June 24, 1947, in Marshfield, to the late, Otto and Martha (Rindfleisch) Bach. He married Kathie Wundrow on June 15, 1968, in Hewitt, she survives.
Of David’s many loves, the most prominent was nature and the outdoors. A lifelong hunter and gardener, David would spend hours delicately mowing his lawn and tending to his beloved garden – even if he would never eat the fruits of his labor.
David was also a deep lover of animals, raising and showing llamas for over twenty years with his wife and partner Kathie, caring for a variety of birds such as chickens, peacocks, turkeys, and parakeets, and loving many generations of Bach family dogs: Foxy, Sassy, Shy Shy, and Indy, brothers Harvey and Ziggy, and Peanut. In his later years, David could be found with his hands in the soil.
David’s accomplishments cannot be understated, winning many first-place prizes for his cultivation of llamas, the construction of his and Kathie’s home in Bevent, and the large, loving family who came together every holiday season to enjoy his company. His proudest accomplishment was his enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1966 for the Vietnam war, serving for a year overseas and inspiring his grandson, Colton, to enlist in the military in 2024.
David is survived by his wife Kathie, his sons Jeff Bach of Plover and David Bach Jr. of Amherst, his daughter Heather (Kenneth) Bronk, and his beloved dog Peanut who shared many kisses and tennis ball throws with David before his passing. His many grandchildren, PFC Colton Bronk, Christopher Hendricks, Shelby Norton, Alyssa Bronk, Kayley (Zach) Schneider, Zach Hendricks, Austin Bach, and Oliver Bronk, cannot understate the impact their grandfather has had on their lives. David’s great grandson, Jackson Schneider, will grow up surrounded by the love David fostered.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister Darlene (Duwayne) Lobner.
Per Davids wishes, a Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at a later date. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
