Cory Alan Meis

Cory A. Meis, 41, of Hatley, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at his home, after a long battle with health issues. He was born June 22, 1983, the son of Alan Meis and Karen (Haataja) Wierzba.

Cory cherished his dogs, who were his most loyal companions. He loved to cook working at the family business for years. Often having friends over for playing cards. An avid reader, taking all the learned knowledge and sharing it with others.

Survivors, besides his parents, Alan Meis and Karen (Haataja) Wierzba, include his siblings; Angela (Travis) Inman, Brittni (Michael) Turpin, Cody Meis, and Chad Meis; aunts, Karla Wierzba, Kay Haataja, Kris Haataja, Kim Tillou , Elaine Wierzba, Rose Malak; uncles, John Haataja, James Haataja, Jeffrey Haataja, Bruce Meis, Scott Meis; as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Brynolf and Phyllis Haataja, Donald and Bernice Meis, Uncles Ted Wierzba, Jody Haataja, Dennis Meis, Dale Meis. Aunts Katie Goessl, Linda Haataja, Linda Meis, Marcia Zilkowski, Charlene Meis and a Cousin Heather Meis.

A celebration of Cory’s life will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Eau Claire Park Dells. Friends and family will gather from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to share stories and memories of Cory. The address is P2150 County Road Y, Aniwa, WI 54408.
