Colleen Kurtzweil, 87, of Tomahawk, WI was called to rest on June 15th, 2026. She was born December 27th, 1938, to the late Reginald and Lucille (Senoraske) Kluck.
Colleen graduated from D.C. Everest Senior High and Wausau Vocational School. She began her career working as a legal secretary and later joined Kolbe and Kolbe Millwork as an Accounts Receivable Manager until retiring in 2004.
Colleen and her husband, Ken Kurtzweil, took a break from their careers to venture to Mosinee, WI where they purchased and renovated an old tavern into the Stein ‘n’ Baum. They made many new friends and enjoyed being part of the community for several years, before returning to the Wausau area, and later relocating to Tomahawk.
Upon her retirement Colleen enjoyed bartending. She cherished the friendships she made at the local gathering places in Tomahawk, partaking in her signature Bud Light with a glass of ice, and occasionally throwing a buck in a gambling machine. She and Ken were active members of the local snowmobile clubs.
Colleen filled her days cooking a good meal, gardening, feeding the birds, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Colleen always enjoyed fishing, as a young girl with her father, and later on in life after connecting with Bob Rosemurgy. She and Bob took several trips to Canada to visit friends and wet a line.
In recent weeks, Colleen endured a brief battle with colon cancer. ‘God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be, so He wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, “Come to me”.’
Colleen is survived by her daughter Jodie Connor of Mosinee, WI, her sister Karen Kennedy of Las Vegas, NV, her grandchildren Ryan (Jamie) Connor of Kronenwetter, WI and Lindsey (Ethan) Hudson of Sullivan, WI, and her great grandchildren Sam Connor, and Quinn and Nora Hudson.
Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Kurtzweil, in 2009, her niece, Heather Kennedy, in 2011, her son Randy Kurtweil, in 2018, and her significant other, Bob Rosemurgy, in 2025.
Visitation will be held at Beste Funeral Home in Mosinee on June 30th beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Paper City Lanes in Mosinee. Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
