Caroline M. Goldsmith, 69, of Weston, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center, Weston.
Caroline was born on Aug. 1, 1956, the daughter of Maurice and Nancy (Gebelein) Krieg. She married Terry Goldsmith on Aug. 3, 1984. He survives.
Being raised on a dairy farm in Central Wisconsin, Carrie learned early in life what it meant to work for a living. The work ethic she developed carried her through the rest of her life. For 27 years, Carrie worked for JC Penney. Hired as a part-time sales associate in Wichita, Kansas, she ended her career having worked for eight different stores in four different states. Her position when she retired in 2009, was the department manager of the largest women's department, in the largest JC Penney store in the country. She was proud of her career as were the over 350 fellow associates that attended her retirement celebration. In the last 12 years of her life, Carrie struggled through numerous health issues including breast cancer, an Ischemic stroke, severe heart failure, and finally a lifesaving heart transplant. Through all of the operations, hospitalizations, and what seemed like never ending testing, she maintained her sense of humor and an unbelievable toleration of the pain and discomfort she suffered. I will miss my best friend. For the thousands of miles we traveled together I could not have asked for a better or more understanding companion.
Carrie leaves behind her sisters Beth Krieg, and Ginny (Scott) Rheinschmidt, a brother in-law Tim (Chris) Goldsmith, a step-son David (Jamie) Goldsmith, her grandchildren Emma, Parker, and Graham, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com
