Burnett "Barney" Carl Soddy

Burnett “Barney” Carl Soddy, passed away suddenly at his home on December 15, 2023. He was born on June 3, 1947, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to Ernest and Pearl (Robertson) Soddy.

Barney lived a fulfilling life filled with various accomplishments. He was the owner and operator of Barney's Bar in Mosinee for many years. Following his time at the bar, Barney found a new calling as a car salesman for Smith Brothers Ford and later went on to start and operate Mosinee Motors.

During his free time, Barney developed a passion for fishing. He particularly enjoyed spending time on the water with his son James and nephew Tony, forming a bond over their shared love for this outdoor activity. As an avid fisherman and crappie slayer, Barney immersed himself in nature's beauty and found solace in the calmness of fishing.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Soddy, his daughter Merisa (Derek) Wagner from Baraboo, and his son James Soddy from Tomahawk. His grandchildren Nicholas and Nevaeh Sell held a special place in his heart. Barney is further survived by his sister, Beverly Hahn, Clinton, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Lankford, and Bonnie Pajak.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dancy.  The Rev. Timothy Roser will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church.  Beste Funeral Home, is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
