Betty Jean Wianecki

With her loving family by her side, Betty Jean Wianecki, 82, of Mosinee, passed away on Monday August 31, 2026, under the care of Aspirus Hospice.

Betty was born in Wausau on June 1, 1944, daughter of the late Alex and Francis Cywinski. She married Raymond Wianecki on July 2, 1966, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

As life threw challenges Betty’s way she relied heavily on her faith to guide her and provide the strength not only to persevere, but to thrive. While she enjoyed hobbies such as bowling, going to the YMCA, perusing rummage sales and gardening, her greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother.

Betty was a fierce advocate for her children and was always their biggest cheerleader - whether it was on the sidelines of a basketball court, at the bowling alley or Special Olympics. She also took great pride in visiting Troy at his shop. Later in life, she continued cheering from the sidelines as her granddaughters participated in swimming, soccer, volleyball, cross-country, softball and theater. With Ray and Staci by her side, Betty was their biggest supporter.

Throughout her life, Betty tirelessly devoted herself to learning, advocating and finding ways to ensure the best opportunities for those she loved. Even when it wasn’t the popular choice, she was never afraid to speak up and stand firm if she believed it meant better care for someone she loved. She was a strong woman, steadfast in her dedication to her family. She was also deeply grateful for all those who provided loving support to her and her family.

Betty loved the beauty of flowers, which always brought a smile to her face, especially when gardening alongside family. She found joy in the calm and quiet of camping, being by the water, and taking scenic drives. Betty’s fun, spunky and adventurous side shone through in her love of waterskiing, snowmobiling and motorcycling with Ray. She truly celebrated her daring spirit in a big way on her 50th birthday when she went sky diving. Another unforgettable moment was soaring in a hot air balloon, where she appreciated the great beauty of the world from above. Later in life, Betty found plenty of excitement in her casino trips, although she was often more interested in sharing her “winnings” with friends and family. Her generous heart was often thinking of others. Holidays spent with family, watching the Green Bay Packers, celebrating family birthdays, and simply being together filled Betty’s heart with tremendous happiness. Her sense of humor brought out the laughter of others, even in difficult moments.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond Wianecki; son, Troy (Connie Randow) Wianecki, Stratford; daughter, Traci (David) Sondelski, Mosinee; precious granddaughters, Riley (Garrett) Brown, Stevens Point, and Bailey (fiancé, Jared Langmayer) Sondelski, Wausau; siblings, John (Joan) Cywinski, Ruthie (Tom) Pike, Dale (Mary) Cywinski, as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, whom she has missed dearly, Staci Wianecki. She also tragically lost her sister, Bonnie Cywinski and brother Jerry Cywinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, all at the church, with a meal to follow. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
