Dolores Ann Baur (Wilger)

July 26, 1929 — January 10, 2023

Dolores Baur, 93, Mosinee, died peacefully Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Acorn Hill Residential Care, Mosinee, surrounded by family.

She was born July 26, 1929, in Athens, the daughter of the late Cecelia and Joseph Wilger. Dolores married Merlin Baur on July 22, 1950, in Marathon. She worked at the Marathon Co-op, Swiderski Implement, Mosinee Credit Union, and Brokaw Credit Union, but the best job she had was wife, mother and grandmother. Her kitchen became the hub of their home with always a hot meal, fresh baked bread and a yummy dessert. As grandchildren were born, a new generation relished in coming to Grandma's to eat. She always had their favorites ready and waiting for them to devour. Every holiday was filled with special food traditions. Christmas brought her fruitcake, her special cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving and Coca Cola cake was served for birthdays. She would send home goodies like banana bread, blueberry muffins and strawberry jam but they often didn't even make it home.

Dolores was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and involved with St. Monica's. She was the treasurer of Mosinee's Chapter of the Catholic Order of Foresters and belonged to Mosinee's VFW Auxillary. She also volunteered at the Wausau Hospital.

Dolores could be found in the bleachers of any sporting event of her children and grandchildren. She loved watching sports and could cite many of the rules of the game. This past year, she loved watching the birds and squirrels from her favorite chair, playing bingo and cribbage, praying the rosary and spending time with her friends at Acorn Hill.

Survivors include her children Rick (friend Cheryl Zajackowski) Mosinee, Don (Mary Radtke-Baur) Wausau, John (Karmen Gorman) Marshfield, Ken (Brenda) Marshfield, Diane (Scott) Johnson Phoenix and Keith, Aurora, IL. Eleven grandchildren, Brett (Kelly and soon to be great grandchild), Jordan, Noah, Hannah, Ross, Lance, Lilian, Ben, Josephine, Tristan, Luke and step grandchild Grant. Brothers Jim (Mary) and Tom (Carol) and sister Marilyn (Alex) Brzezinski.

She was predeceased by her husband, Merlin, siblings Ray, Earl, Ambrose, Father Don, and Helen.

A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of service, all at the church. Online condolences can be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
