Babs Marie Fabry

As Written by Babs.... Babs M. Fabry, 87, entered her heavenly home on Sept. 3, 2026. Babs was born in Wausau, WI, on April 5, 1939. The only child of Harry and Marion Babcock.

She had a good time in Grade School, and it followed her throughout High School. She found herself in the “office” more than once. Babs played the clarinet, was the majorette all four years and enjoyed pep band.

After graduating from High School, she left for Chicago and Pat Stevens Modeling School. She worked for Pendleton Clothes and the Breck Shampoo Company, becoming a “Breck Girl” in 1958.

A year or so later, she moved to Minneapolis, MN and found an advertising agency job. Babs got engaged, moved back to WI, married and had two daughters, Megg and Amy. The family moved to Mosinee in 1965. That’s when she started her career in Hostessing and Restaurant Management. She worked at the Antlers for eleven years, then at the Greenery in Wausau.

In 1976 she took a hostess position at the Hoffman House in Wausau, where a year later she would meet the man who would change her life; Jack Fabry. They married in 1978 and were married for 43 wonderful years, and added three girls to the mix.

Babs loved sports. She was an excellent skier and not too bad at golf. She was a good cook and loved to bake, having parties, especially the Super Bowls, writing poems, some of which were published.

Babs worked for “Faith in Action” for eleven years, driving folks here and there; she loved it. She also delivered meals and then prescriptions for the pharmacy. She then found a job as an optician in Mosinee. This would be her last job, as Jack and Babs moved her parents in with them.

She had a quick wit and a weird sense of humor. Loved playing jokes, especially on Jack. All in all, she was a happy person who loved life, her family, helping others and mostly the man who made her complete.

Babs is survived by her daughters, Megg (Tony) Rubbo, Amy (Brian) Mallon, Kym and Lisa Fabry, Jacqui (Tim) Brown; grandchildren, Morgan and Marcus (Naomi) Rubbo, Miranda Babcock, Dineen Gorski, Sidney and Zachary Brown; great-grandchildren, Rhyan, Olivia, Jude, Mia, Sam, Kaine and Charlotte.
