Helen Novitzke (Frieders)
Helen A. Novitzke, 90, Athens, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at Athenian Assisted Living, Athens.

She was born July 28, 1928, in Marshfield, the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Maguire) Frieders. She married Norbert Novitzke on Oct. 5, 1948, in Rozellville. He survives.

Helen graduated from Stratford High School in 1947. She farmed in the town of Hamburg for 40 years and moved to Mosinee in 1987. She loved farm life and tending to the animals. Her true passion blossomed in her bountiful flower gardens.

Survivors, besides her husband, Norbert, include a son, Terry (Brenda) Novitzke, Arbor Vitae; a daughter, Clarice (Jim) Zenner, Medford; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Frieders Jr. and James Frieders, both of Schofield; and a sister, Florence (Bill) Reed, Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark, and two sisters, Germaine Raasch and Shirley Gebelein.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.bestefh.com.
